Website Infrastructure Updates

This week the site is going live with actual podcasts from at least one school. In the meantime, the site has been opened up to be searchable by Google and listed in the main Blogger Index as well, so a welcome to anyone who just surfed by.

We now have a group on Facebook and we will be looking to add some photos shortly showing one of the stations we setup. Looking to the future, we hope to get some video online as well using a YouTube link up.

Facebook Group: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=10693143572

In the meantime, don't forget to sign up to our RSS feed [see the instructions supplied by the BBC links] and also look to "Digg" us using the new Digg It link provided and drop by later this week for our first school Podcast.

Testing Recordings of Children

A test of recording children's voices to ensure pickup is of sufficient quality and volume level so that it is workable on the Blog site.

Firstly a traditional nursery rhyme spoken by a Year 2 Child:

Secondly an altered nursery rhyme showing an example of how forgetting the words actually adds to a recording, whereas editing everything to be perfect can detract from results. Read by a Year 1 child:

Boosted Test File

A short piece explaining how to setup to pickup the latest feeds from a Podcast sight. The aim of this test is primarily to test a "boosted" microphone to compare to the initial lower grade test to see what it sounds like in comparison:

We also have a short installer test recording from Norwood School testing the setup in the hall, the recording is not full quality yet, this was an internal test for their school speakers:
